And so it is finally here,
the RCC tours last day in the mountains of Spain. We're looking forward to leaving the 27C heat behind (yeh right!). Today has been another epic of long climbs, mountain time trial stages and of course lots of grub. How else do you expect us to fuel our fatigued legs. Talking of legs Andrew informed us at breakfast that he was proud to have 'beaten' a one armed/one legged cyclist on the Marmot a few years ago. A truely memorable milestone in his cycling career!
As you can see from the photo accompanying this article we've had lots of interaction with the riders of other clubs, with Mark leading the way in inter-club dialogue, no matter how fast they were (trying to escape)!
Todays ride takes our totals for the week to a creditable 365miles and well over 8000m of gurning. And just to remind readers thats at 27C and not a drop of rain!
We should also point out that we all appreciate the efforts of a certain Mainly Dowhill Dave without whom this event wouldn't have been quite so successful. We also suggest that a certain Dave Lloyd and Co consider learning from the maestro guide himself!
So it is with heavy hearts (and legs) that we leave tomorrow to rejoin you all back in the cold, miserable, windy, wet dales. We're unlikey to get a pass out for the Tan Hill ride on Sunday, so good luclk with that.
Finally we'd all just like to pass on our good wishes to Geoff and Chris. Hope you're both on the mend.

Hmm, I fear my breakfast table bit of humour has lost something in transcription... For the record I was in awe of that guy on the Marmotte.
Anyway, this was a great holiday, and for anyone who might be interested in doing a similar trip but not keen on flying, it is possible to train it there, as I did. This meant setting off from Yarm on the Friday morning to arrive Saturday afternoon via London, Paris, Barcelona and Alicante, including sleeper from Paris to Barcelona, and tram from Alicante to Albir.
The leg from Barcelona to Alicante runs along the coast and has some breathtaking views over the Mediterranean.
It worked out at about 200 pounds each way, door-to-door.
